RandD > 2008.08.19 (Tue) - Biked in today, it was a bit cool on the way in. Good day at work, still lots to do by noon tomorrow... I'll have to go in early tomorrow. The ride home was great, not hot at all and I made good time. Got home, showered changed, Robin and I going out for our regular Tuesday night gig. Grabbed this quick easy shot in the back yard, sorry about the lack of effort but likely won't have time to do it later. Thanks all for your comments the last few days as struggled with my lack of motivation. I've just been trying too hard! I appreciate the encouragement from everyone. RandD > 2008.08.18 (Mon) - A bit sore today from yesterdays run. Drove in, had a good day at work. Returned home and spent the evening with the family. Robin, B, Bri, Kayla, Peyton, and I all had dinner together... It was nice. Staying home tonight to spend even more time with the fam. This photo is of an oak leaf with some galls attached to it. I picked it up at work and brought home with me. These small cone shaped galls are formed by a family of small wasps called “cynipid" wasps. Until tomorrow, -Darron
RandD > 2008.08.17 (Sun) - Nice day, back to church this week, then we hung out together, did a little work aroud the house, napped, floated around in the pool for a few hours and kept the camera handy. I put the macro on and grabbed this shot of a small weed growing in front of our pool pump. Going for a 5K run and then will return and watch a movie with the family. Hope your weekend was good. Thanks for the encouragement and advise on keeping going on the dailies. I appreciate it. All the best, Darron Update: My 5K went fairly slow, it has been about 4 months since my last run. I am going to commit to running 3 days a week and biking 2.
RandD > 2008.08.16 (Sat) - Robin and I packed the bikes up today and went for an 18 mile bike ride. We started a Folsom Dam, stopped and watched the construction of the new Folsom Lake Bridge, then rode around Lake Natomas and back. It was a very hilly ride and Robin did very good. We returned and took a nap, then ran to Home Depot to get some things we needed. We returned with dinner, hung out with Jen for a while until she had to run. After all this Robin and I took off in search of my daily photo. We headed out toward Plumas Lake and got some nice shots of the sunset before stopping at the Anderson home to hang out with Kayla, Chris, and Peyton. I've really been struggling on the daily photos. I just can't seem to get motivated or inspired. I was talking to Robin today about not doing it any more but she convinced me that I will get through this slump. I just don't feel that I am improving at all. Oh well, see ya tomorrow, -Darron
RandD > 2008.08.05 (Fri) - Another good day at work, made progress on the module I am reworking. It was John's turn to bring the Friday dounuts and he showed up with bagels. They were very good and much healthier so no complaints here. We had a good developers discussion about some of ideas for implementing the business object framwork. We will have to map things out after we do the conceptual database design. The drive home was crazy. I could have biked home faster. I eventually arrived and Jennifer was here so it was nice seeing her. She took off shortly after I showed up. Kayla and Peyton were next to show up and we all hung out for a while before B & Bri stopped in. Bri took off with her mom then Kayla and Peyton took off. Robin and I headed out to find a daily photo. It got dark fast, we stopped at a new high school in the Antelope area. Brandon and Jennifer both competed in a design contest to design the logo for the new school. (They are both talented with PS) I grabbed this shot of the football statium at the new school. We stopped at TB for our Mango Strawberry Fruitista Freezes (we've become addicts) and then returned home for the night. Until tomorrow, Darron
RandD > 2008.08.14 (Thu) - Overslept today, got into work late but work was good. I am really getting tired of the seemingly endless design documentation and I'm not alone. Worked late to get my eight in, got home later than normal. Changed and hung out with the family. Robin cooked a big turkey dinner, just like thanksgiving. Kayla and Peyton joined us for dinner, we gave thanks for our many blessings and then enjoyed the wonderful meal. After dinner we all took Peyton swimming. Jennifer arrived soon after and joined us in the pool. We played late and the family wanted to watch a movie so I decided to post my HDR image. I took the photos the day before yesterday but combined the two different exposures into an HDR image for today's daily photo. (The first time in the 118 days I've been doing this that I posted a photo I hadn't taken today.) I'm off to enjoy the movie with my family, Darron
RandD > 2008.08.13 (Wed) - Okay, you know how sometimes things just don't seem to go the way you think they should? Well, I had one of those days at work today but I can honestly say that it was a good day. I biked in, the ride home was very hot. Ate dinner with the family, tried to shoot yesterdays spider again but with little luck. Took off and did my regular Wednesday night study with the guys, I got a lot out of it. I returned home and found a willing subject for my daily photo. Took several shots but later discovered the white balance was set incorrectly so tried a new B&W conversion technique to save myself from re-shooting. Very tired, ready for bed... Until tomorrow, Darron
RandD > 2008.08.12 (Tue) - Good day, nothing new at work. Got home at the usual time, Robin, B, and Bri were home when I arrived. They started a movie and I got the bike out and cleaned and lubed it and made some minor adjustments. I plan on riding in tomorrow. There was a little spider out front, I grabbed the camera and Robin reflected some light on it while I tried to get a good shot. The DOF is way too shallow, could have used a tripod. Not a good photo at all but it is the best I have to post so here it is. Until tomorrow, Darron
RandD > 2008.08.11 (Mon) - Drove to work today, had a pretty good day except the part where I got my father's voice message from yesterday asking if we were still coming over for dinner. Robin and I totally forgot that we had all planned on getting together for dinner once we got back from our trip to Nevada! Brandon was at a friends house to spend the night, I canceled my regular Monday night thing and Robin and I went over and had dinner with my folks after I got home from work. We stayed for a while and all watched old home video of the kids when they were all little. Brandon was still in diapers, they were all so cute! After dinner, Robin and I took off on an spontaneous date night. We went and watched the Beavers swim around for a while and then decided to go in search of a good daily photo. I headed west on Douglas while Robin tried to guess where we were going. We continued all the way to the Folsom Lake, it was very low and we drove out to what would have been the middle of the lake and parked for a while to shoot some photos including this one of my sweetie. The mosquitoes started to bite and it was getting dark so we took off for home for a quiet evening alone. Until tomorrow, Darron
